NO! I haven't forgotten about you avid Land of Gabe readers!! I promise! But things are super busy at our house since that little feller has learned to crawl and pull up and GET INTO STUFF!! I really need to take a video of him crawling. It's the cutest thing ever with his little rump twisting along. He reminds me of a little plastic wind up baby doll thingy that I had when I was little. You wound it up and put it on the ground and it's little butt twisted to and fro as it crawled along the floor. Sometimes tough, I find myself looking for Gabe's winding mechanism, wondering how to disable it! If just for a few minutes anyway!! ;-)
We've had some sickness at our house but knock on wood, it has just been me and not Gabe or Daddy. I think I had "the flu" or something very similar to it at the end of last week, along with a short lived (thank God) stomach bug at the beginning of the week. It's always strange to be snortin' and snottin and coughing in the middle of the summer, but that is exactly what was (and still is minus the fever) going on with me. But let's just pray that Gabe stays free and clear of all of it. I hate it when that baby gets sick! Especially since Grammy is in ALASKA and can't take care of him so I can work!!
Gabe is learning new tricks everyday. He waves. A lot! He waves "hey" and "bye" and for "give me" that and for "come here" and for "night night" and probably for a myriad of other things that I am just not keen to - yet. His daycare teacher said he waves at everybody who comes in the room! He has finally started saying "mama". He said "dada" for so long that I thought I was never going to hear "mama" but he has finally complied. Not sure if he knows I am "mama" or not, but it's fun to believe that he does. He also says something that sounds a lot like "Bye bye". The jury's still out on that one but I"m sure he knows what he means!!
He is working on drinking out of a sippy cup. More so at school than at home but he is working on it nonetheless. He does "ok" with it. It's not his drink route of choice though. He still prefers the bottle. He is also eating lots of neat new things. If he can pick it up, he will eat it (this is not always a good thing). He is gagging a lot less which helps! Some of the new tastes he has had in the last several days include:
a cheetoo (I know, not the most nutritious)
mac and cheese
cheese toast
chicken strips
casadilla
a little snip of birthday cake icing (yummy!)
cheese grits
waffle
The list goes on and on...
In just a month and half we will celebrate Gabe's first birthday! What a bittersweet time that will be! In the meantime, we are just pluggin along, learning and growing. Life is good...
