My Baby is One!

Well, it finally happened. He turned one and no matter what I did, I couldn't stop him!! That's ok though. There's just so much of him to love and as he grows, I'm sure there will be more and more!!

On Friday he had his one year well baby visit which included TWO shots!! Ouch! He did cry a little, but was pretty quickly calmed in Daddy's arms. He weighed in at 20 lbs, 8 ounces and 29.5 inches long. He got an A-OK from the doctor who said he was growing and developing perfectly!

We celebrated the big birthday this weekend. We had a little get together at the pool and Gabe had a blast being the center of attention. His favorite part was eating the cake! He LOVES to eat and he especially loves cake!! Here are some shots of him eating cake and otherwise having a great birthday party.

And then... this is a biggie! This is something I have been working on for months and I really want to share it with all of my Land of Gabe readers. It's a video montage that I have made of Gabe's first year. Just a few warnings before you open it...

It's kind of long - there are three songs (so turn on your sound!) and it takes about 10 minutes to see the whole thing so watch it when you have some spare time (and make sure you make it though to the end! That's the best part!!)

Gabe Holland From a Baby to a Boy

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO ME!!!!

Today is my birthday!! I am ONE!!!!! My mommy seems kind of sad about it. She says I am growing up way too fast for her but I am pretty excited about it all. Tomorrow, I get a house full of visitors!! Nana and Pa Jerry, and Aunt Mary and my cousins Jamie and JB and Grandma are all coming up to see me. Uncle Jason couldn't make it this time and I will miss him but I am still pretty excited about it all. On Saturday I am having a birthday party at the swimming pool and they will all be there along with Grammy and Pop and some of my other family members and a few friends. I've never had a birthday party before so I am really excited about it!! I just hope it doesn't rain!

My mommy says I am growing like a weed, whatever that means, but that I am still her "baby" Gabe and will always be. I like that though; I like being mama's baby! But now that I am one, I can graduate to being "daddy's (and mama's) little man"!! What an exciting time!!

For my birthday, mama and daddy got me a new car! Yep, a new car; and I didn't even have to wait until I turned 16!! I LOVE my car. I look so cool in it, cruising around the yard (or the living room!). I even get kind of mad when it stops going because I don't usually want to get out! Here are some pictures of me. See how cool I am??

I also got to open my cool leap frog fridge DJ radio from mama and daddy this morning. It plays music when I push the button and I LOVE to push the button!! I love anything with buttons on it!!

I think that mama will be back next week to tell you even more about me and how my birthday party went. I have to go see the doctor tomorrow and we will get to find out how much I weigh and all. I'm sure I've grown a lot recently. Heck, I'm one which means I'm a big boy now, no matter how much I have grown!! Anyway, here are a few more pictures so you can see just how cute I am!! New Hair and Lots of Giggles

So far (knock on wood), everyone has been well this week at our house. It's stormed alot lately and that has me worried as the big birthday party is approaching!! It's supposed to be outdoors so hopefully we won't have the uninvited guest of an evening thundershower!! Other than trying desperately to stay cool, we just really don't have a lot going on right now. Just watching Gabe do all of his funny and cute new tricks. Here is a cute new video clip of him. Daddy was swatting a fly and for some reason that cracked Gabe up!! You can see him trying to "swat" himself.

Is it August already?

I can't BELIEVE it!! It is August and in just a few short days, my little baby is turning ONE! Say it isn't so??? Other mommies out there, how do you deal with this? It's such a bittersweet time!

I will admit though, that it is really fun to watch him grow and change, practically overnight. Last night I was looking at some video I shot of him at the end of May, and he looks like a totally different baby! It's amazing how fast he changes right before my eyes. His hair was so much more spiky back then and he was just learning to crawl and pull up. He looked so much like those shots from Bambi where little Bambi is first learning to get up on those wobbly legs. They were just shaking all over the place! Oh, and speaking of hair, Gabe got haircut number THREE last night! His first one was on April 7, and already he is working on number three! He looks like such a little boy when it is cut too. Forgive me for not snapping a picture. I will soon!!

Did I mention that Gabe dances like a Chippendale dancer? Well, he does. He likes to dance during his bath, which makes the illusion all the more real. He grabs a hold to the towel bar in the back of the bath tub and gets his hips moving back and forth to some strange rhythm that apparently only he can hear. And he squeals with delight! He thinks it's hilarious and he usually makes mama and daddy crack up too. I have it on video but not the kind I can share on here. I'll have to try and get it on the other camera so you can see too, but I may have to sensor it! It's pretty graphic!! ;-)

Is it time for an accomplishment's list? Oh why not...

• Say's "uh oh", "mama", "dada", "ma" (for more) and sometimes "ohbo" (for Hobo) and "gee" (for Maggie)
• Waves (all the time! He LOVES to wave)
• Cruises around and around the couch behind his little hippo push toy (this is exercise for us too because he hasn't figured out how to turn his hippo yet!)
• Eats lots of new things, including chicken pieces, pasta, ravioli
• Cruises from one piece of furniture to the next

Like I said, growing like crazy!! And I certainly can't stop him!! I'd never try though; I'm having too much fun
