First Word?

Gabe has been saying DaDa for a very long time now. He has just fairly recently started saying MaMa. It's hard to tell for sure if he "knows" that Daddy is Dada and that I am MaMa. If I had to say, I'd say maybe not 100% yet. He seems to say DaDa particuarly for a myrid of things - bottle, paci, kitty, silkie, eat, and Daddy. DaDa seems to be his favorite word. But last night my keen ears were almost positive they heard him say a word and actually use it in somewhat the correct context. He was in the bath tub and dropped one of his toys over the side and as he peered over the side of the tub he said "uh oh". Not really sure how he knew to say uh oh in that particular instance. It must be something that I say a lot! But he said uh oh and he said it several more times at my prompting.

It's been really fun to listen to his babbling since it all started but it's been hard to wrap my mind around the fact that he will actually say words and even sentences one day! I guess I'm just not ready for the days to tick by as fast as they are. It's such a fun time though right now and I am enjoying every minute of it. But some days I feel like it is all going by way too fast. I know I say that on almost every post on here but it is so true. Time really does move at a faster rate once you have children. I'm not sure how it is possible, but it really does. Those three years that we tried to have a child seemed more like 30 yet the past 11 months have seemed more like 11 days. It's such a strange phenomenon that I'm sure every parent experiences. But in the here and now, I am very content to enjoy that little "uh oh" and "mama" and "dada", every time it comes out of that sweet little mouth.
